The Journal of the 81st Entry

Edited and uploaded by Brian Spurway

Welcome to the 45th edition of The Journal.

I'd be lying if I said there's been a rush of articles coming in since those at the 60th Anniversary Reunion asked me to keep the Journal running - however my thanks to Robert Longhurst, who sent the one in this edition and another one to put in the safe, and to Russ Russell for his story about Kuantan (been there Russ, in 1959, also under canvas, but that's another story, as they say), also in this edition.

A warm welcome to Barry Close who, out of the blue as we haven't been in contact before, sent me his article in this edition and two others that I've also put in the safe.

Another recent and welcome new contact is David Cross whose letter to me has been added to Feedback.

Because of the dirth of articles I have included one about "Why I joined the RAF" in this edition, as I had to do in the last edition, to make up for the shortage rather than include them on the page set aside for that topic. I also have a few more nautical accounts from Martin McArther saved up so I can produce at least one more edition but it still looks unlikely that I'll be able to continue producing after the end of the year. Sorry guys, but it's up to you!
