The Journal of the 81st Entry
Edited and uploaded by Brian Spurway
Welcome to the 35th edition of The Journal.
Last Post:
The 81st Entry extends its sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of our two lost comrades whose (fairly) recent photographs appear below. The loss of any member of the 81st diminishes us all.
Geoff Timberlake, Airframes, who passed away last September after a long fight with cancer.
Tom White, Engines, who passed away on 31 January this year.
As ever my sincere appreciation to those who have contributed to this edition of our Journal; my thanks also to Malcolm (Mac) Mason, who lives in The Netherlands and is associated with their branch of the RAFA, for sending me the article written by Air Cdre Lorraine.
The cupboard is looking a bit bare yet again with just the third part of John Catley's Superscrew series and two unrelated articles by Martin McArthur lined up for the next edition of the Journal. Please give thought to Willie Keay's suggestion that perhaps some of us could come up with stories from the Cold War years which, history will record, lasted from 1947 to 1991; other than those who opted out, either during training or shortly thereafter, the rest of us must have witnessed, or been involved in/with, something of interest. I look forward to your sending me your recollections of that period.
