The Journal of the 81st Entry

Edited and uploaded by Brian Spurway

Welcome to the 34th edition of The Journal.

Once again the crisis is over, sufficient copy has arrived here allowing me to upload six articles in this Journal and keep adequate reserve for the next one due out in May.

John Catley made his welcome first appearance, out of the blue, at the visit to Duxford and here in this issue of the Journal we have the first of two articles he sent in about his life in the prison Service; hopefully there will be more to come. Both Arthur Hague and Dave Sidgwick have returned with articles following on from their earlier ones: Arthur, in Journals 18 and 19, told us about his hobby with the Rotherham & District Model Engineering Socety whilst Dave, in Journal 25, told us about an experience with civilians wearing uniform. Regulars James Strachan, Tod Slaughter and Willie Keays add theirs to give us these six articles for all to enjoy reading; Willie's last paragraph adds an interesting suggestion that could (even should) produce some fascinating memories - maybe mainly from the 'Plumbers' amongst us, but I'm sure others were caught up, like myself, in 'Mickey Finns', 'Tacevals', heavily guarded freight, et al.

In the next issue I will be including articles from Mike Thompson, John Taylor, John Catley, John Gornall, Mike Stanley and Malcolm Mason.

As always my sincere thanks to all past, present and future contributors to the Journal.
